Not suitable when lung structure identification is impaired, including: (1) extensive inflammation; (2) large-area atelectasis; (3) advanced emphysema/bullae/tuberculosis with destruction; (4) pneumothorax; (5) pleural effusion; (6) bronchiectasis; (7) other lesions causing distortion or loss of lung structure. Use with caution in unvalidated settings: (1) poor image quality from positioning or respiratory motion, or large chest/back metal implants; (2) conditions affecting bone mineral density measurement, e.g., vertebral fractures or vertebral tumors.
